His Word on my heart.

Scripture Cards

Deuteronomy 11:18-21 | Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

I have been focusing a lot on these beautiful words in Deuteronomy. My question to my Bible study group was "Is His word written on our hearts?". Do we know them, memorize them? Do we have them written & ingrained in our soul?

I read my Bible, I study it, but I have not spent time memorizing His word as much as I would like to. I long to have His word written in my soul, in my heart, so that when I am faced with a battle, or a need, I can use His word to bring peace, or a battle plan.

This is my goal. Memorize His Word. I have researched some different ways to help me study. I made scripture cards (pictured above) that I will continually add to and hook to my planner.

I am working on a "Scripture Box" and also a Prayer Notebook to help organize my study habits. I will be posting pictures and more information soon on each item.

I would love for you to join me in this journey!

Below are a few scriptures that specifically talk about memorizing scripture:

Psalms 119:11 - Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. 2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Deuteronomy 11:18 - Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. Colossians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Jeremiah 15:16 - Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Psalms 37:31 - The law of his God [is] in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. Matthew 4:4 - But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Psalms 40:8 - I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law [is] within my heart. Proverbs 6:21-22 - Bind them continually upon thine heart, [and] tie them about thy neck. Psalms 119:16 - I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. Proverbs 4:20-21 - My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Psalms 1:1-6 - Blessed [is] the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Hebrews 2:1 - Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let [them] slip.
